Recommendations for your visit
In order to protect our collections and ensure all visitors enjoy their experience, we ask you to follow these simple rules and share them with your group. A garden requires lots of care; we sincerely appreciate your help in preserving this living museum.
The entrance and most of our trails are accessible to people in wheelchairs and people with other disabilities. Certain paths may be uneven or steep. Please see our accessibility guidelines for more information.
People can bring their pets with a collar and leash; also bring a plastic bag for the pet´s waste.
Bicycles must be parked near the entrance; scooters, skates or skateboards can be left at the ticket office at the entrance.
Active sports, balls, Frisbees or running are not allowed; audio devices can only be used with headphones.
Plants cannot be touched except in the Garden of the Senses Program. Do not pick flowers, neither climb trees nor walk in growing beds.
No smoking.
Do not throw coins into fountains or ponds.
Guide Service
Large group visits
When more than one class from the same school or organization visits us, groups should split up to tour the Garden collections separately. Smaller groups of children will see more of the Garden and have a better time.
School Groups
For groups from basic and high school institutes with reservation the services of a professional guide is required. The fee per group between 15-20 people is US$15.00.
School visits
The Quito Botanical Garden (JBQ) is a flora conservation center unique in the city and has 18 years of experience in transmitting knowledge on the importance of plants for the balance of nature, the value of biodiversity and its conservation.
Collections/ Exhibitions
The JBQ has the largest ex situ collection of orchids in the country, some representations of the Andean ecosystems, and several themed gardens of native and exotic plants that are classified according to scientific and landscape criteria.
Rooms/ Classrooms/ Rest Areas
We have an auditorium where talks are usually given on the extensive study of flora. There is also a picnic area for a moment of relax for teachers and students.
Specialized Guiding Services
The Quito Botanical Garden offers the educational community both guided tours of our collections and various educational activities that promote environmental culture and citizen awareness about the importance of Ecuador´s plant diversity, especially the representative ecosystems of the Inter-Andean region, its conservation and use.
Reservations for the visit
Any school group, colleges of universities, vacation camps, senior groups, family groups, business groups require to book two weeks in advance.

The following information is required: day, hours, number of students and teachers and the education program of your interest to support you in a better way.
Each group must have a ratio of one adult for every 15 children at least. For initial education and elementary grades, a ratio of one adult to ten children is recommended. Students must be accompanied by responsible adults all the time.
